15th Coffee Quality Competition
The highest grade went to San Sebastian da Grama Town
The results of the 15th edition of the Coffee Quality Contest situated in São Paulo state, which is being held at the Santos Commercial Association (ACS) were announced on Tuesday (1st).
The highest grade went to a competitor located in São Sebastião da Grama town, from the Vale da Grama Coffee Growers Association, at the Anhumas farm, owned by Clayton Mapelli Cerri. He got 9.08 points in the Micro-Lot Preparation Category and was at the top of the list. In the preparation category Peeled and Depulped Cherry, Homero Teixeira de Macedo Jr, from the Vale da Grama Coffee Growers Association, Recreio farm, also from São Sebastião da Grama, won first place and took 8.97 points (second place of the general listing).
With the same score, Adonis Cerri, from the Vale da Grama Coffee Growers Association, Mata farm, in São Sebastião da Grama town, won in the Natural Category (and tied in the general listing with the Cherry category winner).
For the president of the ACS, Roberto Clemente Santini, the 15th Coffee Quality Contest of São Paulo State at the Santos Commercial Association, confirms the tradition and credibility of the Institution.
"Coffee is part of the history of ACS. Each year, in production, export or competitions of this level, Brazil confirms its worldwide leadership in the sector. Congratulations to the participants. In practice, everyone is a winner."
The evaluations and tests of the competition were carried out by the jurors last Thursday (27) in the ACS Classification and Coffee Tasting Room throughout the day. This year, of the total of 60 enrolled, 33 competed in the natural preparation category, 17 in Peeled and Pulped Cherry and 10 in micro-lot.
